About the Logistics and Inventory Manager position:
Kelvin seeks a Logistics and Inventory Manager to execute and manage our company's international logistics and inventory needs. This role is critical to our operations, involving the coordination of international and regional logistics, as well as comprehensive inventory management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and inventory control, with the ability to effectively manage the entire supply chain process from manufacturer to customer.
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this role offers the unique opportunity to steer and expand our operational capacity. The ideal candidate will bring a seasoned perspective to managing the entire logistics chain (from the supplier to the customer, and back) and the entire inventory process (experience managing 200 SKUs with counts in the tens of thousands each). What You’ll Do
- International and Regional Purchasing and Logistics:
- Coordinate with the operations team at contract signing to establish the correct quantity of equipment needed for a project.
- Coordinate across projects to determine where bulk ordering of equipment and materials may provide lower costs.
- Create and manage Purchase Orders, coordinating with manufacturers in China, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
- Conduct international shipments using both air and ocean freight, including reverse logistics.
- Ensure all shipments have the correct paperwork for customs clearance and adhere to proper rate tariff coding.
- Manage drayage from ports and arrange trucking to customer locations or warehouses.
- Provide continual updates on estimated delivery times and tracking information to the operations team and partners
- Direct packaging or orders for manufacturers to maximize container space, develop load plans, and plan logistics for unloading and storage.
- Validate shipments upon arrival to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory control, including validating inbound shipments, handling and organizing storage.
- Manage outbound assembly of goods and submit work orders, ensuring quality execution.
- Arrange outbound shipping to project sites from various locations.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and perform inventory re-ordering based on sales demand.
- Develop and implement inventory management systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide an inventory value on a monthly and quarterly basis to the finance team.
What You’ll Need:
- Proven experience in international logistics and inventory management
- Commitment to being in the office or in the field, five days a week, to have full ownership and execution over both logistics and inventory.
- Strong understanding of international supply chain management, including shipping, customs, and warehousing.
- Experience with import and export, tariff systems, insurance requirements, quotas.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with international suppliers and internal teams.
- Knowledge of inventory software systems and proficiency in data analysis.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Willingness to travel to on-site locations for quality inspections and learning the operations firsthand.
